Encounter with Japanese Audio Culture
It’s 6am, and the sun has finally risen to the point where I can get up, make my first coffee and sit down to write this letter go all of you. I’ve just arrived in Tokyo, so I’ve been awake for hours with jet lag fueled, half conscious dreams and a surreal clarity. My first few days in Japan are always full of introspection, but also a little anxiety. Why have I, for more than half of my life, spent as much time as possible in Japan? Wouldn’t it be easier to just stay at home?
Now, I’ve taken the plunge to create a second home here, and establish a base of operations for my brand, Ojas. I’ve been invited by MJ, a Japanese audio cultural institution, to regularly contribute my thoughts and experiences in these pages. What a responsibility! But how did I get here? Maybe I should start from the beginning.
